Reform’s secret weapon is as lethal as a Nerf gunSarah Pochin, Reform’s new MP for Runcorn and Helsby, has been called “Nigel Farage’s secret weapon” by The Times. Our impression? Pochin is about as lethal as a Nerf gun. “I was brought up not to rely on the state,” she proudly told her interviewer, moments after explaining her dad was in the Army (a state job), her mum worked for the Post Office (a state job) and she went to a private school (at the time granted exemptions, by the state, from VAT). What really revealed Pochin’s grasp of detail came in the ludicrous claim that Wales is considering a ban on dogs. “In Wales now, in certain areas, they are looking at a policy where you can’t walk your dogs even on a lead because it is intimidating to some people who don’t come from rural communities.” She said this was “another example of attacking the British culture” This certainly sounds bad, only it wasn’t true. “There are no plans to ban dogs from the countryside and any suggestion otherwise is inaccurate and a complete misrepresentation,” says an unequivocal statement from the Welsh government. Pochin misread an anti-racism report last year quoting a African female who said she feels scared of being attacked by dogs in parks. This was just one person. And anyway: is a fear of being attacked by dogs such a terrible thing? Last year, Wales, along with the rest of the UK, banned XL Bully dogs because they kept trying to bite people. This report was published in November 2024 — the month before, a 12-year-old Welsh girl was attacked by an XL Bully and left with life-changing injuries. Sarah Pochin, like her colleagues in Reform, want to make you believe that leftwing politicians pander to culturally-incompatible foreigners. It’s just another fantasy.
