            In case you haven’t heard, public education is under attack. Monday’s Supreme Court ruling is the latest charge in the right-wing, billionaire attack on our public schools: privatize and segregate until one of the most necessary social programs in the US is dismantled.

            But the working-class isn’t giving up. Across the country we see students, parents and educators organizing at school board meetings to protect LGBTQ students, running for office to defend the public good, and hitting the picket lines in strikes that disrupt the capitalist machine. And where the fight to build a better world is, you’ll find DSA.

            As chair of DSA LA’s Public Education Committee and a rank-and-file teacher I’m asking for your funding to help us stay in this fight. Our committee has walked with Pasadena teachers in their fight against layoffs after their homes burned down, stood with UTLA members as we marched on SpaceX, and hosted political education events about the history of school privatization and the power of teacher strikes. These actions were only possible because of our members’ donations: for posters on the picket line, for meeting space to organize, and for printing flyers to organize and agitate with.

The privatizers aren’t going to give up their war on our schools and they have deep pockets. The working-class doesn’t stand a chance unless we can pool our resources to hit them where it hurts. In a time when teachers face shrinking school district budgets and students and their families withstand harsh discrimination, please join me in pitching in by donating to DSA LA.
