Dear Democrats,
Last night, House Republicans on the Rules Committee blocked an effort to force the release of the Epstein files. The Rules Committee GOP legislators voted down an amendment that would have allowed the full House to vote on releasing a trove of Epstein evidence to protect Trump.
Before yesterday’s Rules Committee vote, Representative Teresa Leger Fernandez (NM-03) reminded fellow committee members that voting against the amendment would be voting against releasing the Epstein files [[link removed]] : “Will you require the release? Is there anything that needs to be hidden? If there isn’t, then just release the files … So you with your vote will be preventing even the consideration of the release of the Epstein files… You have the power, let’s see how you vote.”
Unfortunately, only one of the committee’s nine Republicans was willing to cross party lines to join the four Democrats to support the release of the Epstein files.
However, in a House floor vote today, the GOP shamefully killed [[link removed]] another Democratic effort to force the Justice Department to publish the Epstein files. This measure failed along party lines without drawing a single Republican vote. This House vote means that Republicans are on the record covering for Trump and keeping the Epstein files hidden.
Democrats can’t let the GOP go unchecked for not just failing to release the Epstein files, but being complicit in covering them up. MAGA Republicans campaigned on the Epstein files, but when they finally have the opportunity to release them, their entire caucus votes to keep them hidden as Trump and his political appointees want Americans to forget about them. Now, Trump has turned releasing the Epstein files into a bizarre loyalty test, and sadly, Republicans are falling into line to protect him. Democrats support releasing the Epstein files, and Republicans did on the campaign trail, what changed?
