John,
In New York City last week, a masked federal agent in a red bandana and sunglasses patrolled the halls of immigration court — no name, no badge, no accountability.
In San Antonio, masked agents pulled a woman and her toddler away from a courthouse.
In Massachusetts, they detained a doctoral student as she was walking on the sidewalk, without explanation.
In Los Angeles, they shoved a Latino bystander to the ground for filming and held him for 24 hours without telling him why.
These aren’t isolated incidents. This is just a fraction of the kidnappings across the country that are part of Trump's coordinated campaign of fear. ICE agents and other federal officers working with them are detaining people across the U.S. without warrants, without identification, and without oversight.
We can’t mince words anymore. This is what a secret police force looks like, and it’s happening here — under the Trump administration, right now.
That’s why leaders like Sen. Alex Padilla and Sen. Cory Booker have introduced legislation to ban these tactics. Will you sign on to support their work and demand every lawmaker vote to unmask ICE now?
Federal agents shouldn’t be allowed to mask their identities, refuse to show a badge, or detain people without cause. Not in the United States. Not under any administration. If someone has the power to take your freedom, they should be required to show who they are.
This is about protecting the Constitution and preserving the safety of our own communities.
Thanks for standing up,
Democratic Values
