Public Health Honorees Showcase Dedication to Building a Safe and Healthy LA County
The Los Angeles County Department of Public Health has earned 20 Achievement Awards from the National Association of Counties (NACo) in 2025. Each year, NACo honors innovative county government programs that enhance and expand services for residents. This year’s recognition reflects Public Health’s ongoing commitment to improving the health and well-being of more than 10 million Los Angeles County residents.
“Public Health’s mission is to ensure that all residents have the resources they need to be healthy. We achieve this through strong partnerships and a shared dedication to equitable, effective, and compassionate service,” said Barbara Ferrer, PhD, MPH, MEd, Director of the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health. “At its core, public health is public safety. Our services and programs support safe communities, healthy options, and prevent the spread of infectious diseases. I am deeply grateful to our staff and programs for their tireless efforts to serve with innovation, impact, and inclusion. We also thank the National Association of Counties for this honor and for championing public service that uplifts every community, especially those most impacted by health inequities.”
