In many places, public
broadcasting isn’t just a resource — it’s a lifeline.
In rural, remote, and Tribal communities across California and the
country, NPR and PBS stations are often the only reliable source of local
news, including emergency alerts, wildfire updates, earthquake warnings,
and evacuation orders.
Right now, that lifeline is under threat. The Trump administration has
proposed withholding $500 million in federal funding to NPR and PBS —
effectively gutting them — and this week, the Senate will vote on the
White House’s proposal.
I joined 23 attorneys general in standing up to this attack, filing an
amicus brief in support of public media and the millions of Americans who
depend on it — and now I’m asking you to join me in the fight.
There’s still time to prevent this dangerous loss for the American people.
[ [link removed] ]Sign my petition now demanding the Senate reject Trump’s proposal and
protect funding for public broadcasting.
These massive cuts could decimate local public media stations and leave
millions of people without access to timely — even potentially lifesaving
— information.
Regardless of zip code, income level, or political belief, we all benefit
from public broadcasting — and especially as we witness the rise of
devastating natural disasters, we cannot afford to leave entire
communities in the dark.
We all need to speak out against these cuts, so I’m asking:

urging them to protect PBS and NPR, and preserve access to vital news and
emergency communication for all?
