As of July 11th, the Trump administration is holding up $6 billion in education funding. Part of that $6 billion—roughly $118 million—would have gone to Arizona, which comes out to about 12% of the state's public education funding. This happens at a time when Arizona schools are about to open their doors and welcome students back.
This isn't a financial move by the White House—it's a 'culture war' move.
MAGA and Republican extremists believe that only the wealthy or privileged should have access to quality education. This is clear when you look at their actions:
-Propping up private schools while undermining public schools at every turn
-Promoting reckless school voucher systems like Arizona’s disastrous ESA program
-Pushing religious doctrine into public classrooms
MAGA, at the state and federal levels, have been coming after public education, and they'll continue to do so.
This is why we need to kick Tom Horne's butt and get him out of the State Superintendent of Public Instruction’s office.
