Unlike most Washington politicians, I didn’t grow up in a politically connected family. I grew up in a working-class household, and like a lot of Americans, I started working minimum wage jobs early on.

I took orders at Arby’s. Worked in construction. It’s how I paid my way through college.

Those experiences shaped how I see public service. Because for too long, too many in Washington have forgotten who they’re really there to serve. They talk a big game, but hardworking families are still getting left behind.

That’s why I ran for Congress in the first place. Not to climb the political ladder, but to walk the walk. To do the work and fight for a government that actually delivers for the people who need it most.

Right now, Republicans are talking the talk while doing everything they can to push an agenda that helps their ultra-wealthy donors — and leaves the rest of America footing the bill. I won’t stand for that. And I’ll never stop fighting for working people.
