I won’t mince words: this is one of the most expensive and harmful laws Congress has ever passed — taking health care from 17 million people, gutting food assistance for children and seniors, and adding trillions to the national debt so that billionaires can receive a massive tax break.
I opposed this monstrosity every step of the way on the airwaves, in committees, on the House floor, and even outside on the steps of the House. I did it for my family and my neighbors; I fought for folks like my dad who relies on Medicare, and the millions of other Americans whose health care is directly threatened by these cuts. New reports show that in our commonwealth, 250,000 Pennsylvanians who rely on Pennie — the state’s official health insurance marketplace under the Affordable Care Act — could lose their coverage due to proposed ACA cuts. That’s half of all enrollees in a program that currently helps 500,000 Pennsylvanians get affordable health care.
I also stood up for those who don’t rely on Medicaid, Medicare, or the Affordable Care Act, but who are now at risk because this bill threatens to shutter hospitals and medical facilities, putting every family’s health on the line.
Passing and signing this bill was not just bad economics. It was immoral.
I will keep fighting and reminding the American people that conservative politicians broke their promises made in Congress to protect health care, support working families, and pursue fiscal responsibility.
Unlike them, I will not turn my back on you.
Sincerely,

Brendan F. Boyle
Member of Congress
