BREAKING NEWS, John: Donald Trump’s first judicial nominee of his second presidential term was just confirmed by the Senate.
Far-right 38-year-old lawyer Whitney Hermandorfer now has a lifetime appointment to the federal bench, filling a vacancy on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit in Cincinnati, Ohio — one of the most POWERFUL courts in the country.
Hermandorfer previously served under Tennessee's Republican attorney general, who represented the state in their brief supporting Trump’s attempt to overturn birthright citizenship, and clerked for three of the conservative justices on the U.S. Supreme Court.
She is the first of Trump’s fifteen judicial nominees to be confirmed, in what may be more than 100 far-right nominations over the next three and a half years of his second presidency.
Hermandorfer is a perfect example of the kind of judge Trump hopes to stack the courts with: MAGA loyalists with a history of fighting for more presidential power over the other branches of government.
By filling federal courts with right-wing extremists like Hermandorfer, Trump and the GOP hope to reshape the judiciary and successfully enact their dangerous agenda, including revoking birthright citizenship and deporting people without due process.
