Summertime is finally here, and with it comes the end of a frustrating, unpredictable school year. Usually summer vacation is a time for families to chill out and recharge. But with so much uncertainty surrounding reopening, camps cancelled and many traditional summer activities on pause, a lot of parents — especially those of children with learning disabilities and/or ADHD  — are feeling more anxious than relaxed.

This week on childmind.org we’re taking a look at what parents of children with ADHD and/or LDs can do to help kids stay on track and get the most out of a summer like no other. We’ve rounded up tips for maintaining routines and helping kids who are impulsive or forgetful stay safe (hint: extra masks… and sunscreen, and socks, and snacks). And one of our learning specialists offers activities to help kids with LDs maintain skills and recharge after a tough end to the school year.
