This July: Let’s Build Safer Digital Futures for Our Communities

This July, the Coalition to Stop Violence Against Native Women (CSVANW) is proud to launch Safe Tech, Safe Futures, a month-long digital safety campaign to empower Native survivors and advocates across New Mexico.
Technology should be a tool for healing, connection, and cultural care, not harm. But too often, it’s used to harass, surveil, and silence our relatives and survivors, mirroring the violence they already face offline.
Throughout the month, we’re sharing information and resources on tech-facilitated abuse, digital consent, and online safety. We’re also inviting you to be part of the conversation.
Here are a few questions we’re asking across social media and here, we’d love to hear from you:
- Have you or a loved one felt unsafe online? What would make digital spaces safer for Native communities?
- What does digital consent mean to you? How do you practice it in texts, social media, or location sharing?
- Tech should connect, not harm. How can we use it to uplift and protect survivors and our relatives?
- What digital boundaries help you or your loved ones feel safe online?
