** Glad to see the promise of AI is bringing back commonsense energy policy.
------------------------------------------------------------
Fox News ([link removed]) (7/15/25) opinion: "President Trump’s announced $500 billion private sector AI investment is a critical enabler for our country. But artificial intelligence won’t power itself. It needs vast amounts of electricity, delivered affordably and reliably. U.S. policy has often prioritized climate idealism over energy pragmatism. Wind, solar and battery technologies will play a key role in our energy future, but they are not available at the scale or reliability needed to fuel expected AI data center demand. And these combined sources are more expensive than U.S. natural gas. Without a balanced and clear-eyed approach, we risk pushing AI innovation – and the economic and national security advantages that come with it – overseas. President Donald Trump, Secretary of Energy Chris Wright and Sen. David McCormick, R-Pa., recognize the opportunity for the United States to achieve AI dominance. By
leveraging abundant American natural gas as a foundation to meet surging AI power demand, we can strengthen our national security, grow our economy and protect our technology leadership."

** "President Trump has TRANSFORMED the American energy landscape. You're going to see a lot more of big, beautiful, clean coal!"

============================================================

Hey Britain, what you're doing isn't working, and you should reconsider your choices.

** The Guardian ([link removed])
(7/14/25) reports: "Britain is expected to fall short of the progress needed to meet its climate targets over the next decade because it is not growing its supply of clean electricity quickly enough, according to the government’s energy system operator. The latest 10-year forecast of Britain’s carbon emissions by the government-owned body has revealed that by 2035 the UK will be producing almost a third more carbon emissions than in scenarios where it is on track to meet its legally binding climate targets by 2050. Ed Miliband, the energy secretary, accused politicians who reject net zero policies of betraying future generations, in a 'state of the climate' address to the House of Commons. The intervention is expected to counter the anti-climate rhetoric of the Conservative party, which has vowed to abandon the 2050 net zero target, and Reform UK, which pledged to scrap all net zero policies and subsidies for renewable energy."

It shouldn't be a surprise that people are excited about America becoming self-reliant again.

** Forbes ([link removed])
(7/15/25) reports: "Ramaco Resources broke ground last month on a new coal mine in Sheridan, Wyoming, the first one in the state in 50 years. By last week, Ramaco had excavated 100 feet down, exposing a 20-foot wide coal seam, and was holding an official ribbon cutting, with Energy Secretary Chris Wright and retired West Virginia Senator Joe Manchin in attendance. But despite their shared enthusiasm for fossil fuels, it wasn’t old-fashioned, electricity generating coal that attracted those big shots to the Brook Mine. Ramaco Chairman and CEO Randall Atkins expects the 2.5 million tons of coal he plans to extract over the next 12 months will contain within it some of the world’s most sought-after rare-earth elements and other critical minerals. Specifically, dysprosium, neodymium, scandium and gallium — vital stuff for making powerful magnets, semiconductors, night-vision goggles, hypersonic missiles, and much more."

Say it louder for the people in the back, Mr. Secretary.

** The Economist ([link removed])
(7/14/25) opinion: "Over the past two centuries, two forces dramatically transformed the human condition: the rise of bottom-up social organisation—human liberty—and the explosion in the supply of affordable energy. The result has been a doubling in life expectancy. In the same period, extreme poverty has plummeted from affecting 90% of the world’s population to under 10%. Energy and human liberty matter. The world needs more energy—in particular, more American energy. The growth of American energy production is a win for our citizens, for our geopolitical standing and for our allies. We need energy that is affordable, reliable and secure. This administration is focused on energy addition, not subtraction—a complete reversal from the previous four years. By the time President Trump took office, American energy had become more uncertain, more expensive and less reliable. One in five American households were struggling to pay their energy bills. Half of the electric grid faced the risk of
blackouts. In the name of a single risk—climate change—the Biden administration launched a regulatory assault aimed at eliminating hydrocarbons in favour of so-called renewables."
