John,
It is rare to go through a weekend in the United States without news of another heinous shooting – unfortunately, this weekend was no different.
Two people were shot and killed in Kentucky in related shootings, one at the airport and one at a church. Gun violence has become so commonplace in the United States that shootings like these barely break through the headlines.
Our country does not have to accept violence as the norm though, John. Lawmakers cannot only offer empty thoughts and prayers in the face of the constant carnage of the American people, that's why Brady is working tirelessly every day to change our country for the better.

We're up against a government beholden to the gun lobby, which is exactly why we need your support more than ever, John. We can free our country from gun violence if we all keep fighting together. If you’re one of the majority of Americans that values our lives over gun lobby profits, make a gift to Brady now and help us save lives from gun violence. >>

Mass shootings have infected all parts of American life, becoming synonymous with grocery shopping, going to the movies, or even going to church. Tragedy after tragedy has happened in spaces and in communities that were once thought to be safe.
|
The cognitive dissonance of our lawmakers is disturbing, John. As a gun violence survivor, witnessing this continual tragedy is what drives me to fight each day and prevent more people from feeling the acute grief of losing a loved one to gun violence like I do. Because the harsh reality is that nowhere in America is safe as long as the gun violence epidemic rages on. And history has already shown us that if we do not address the problem, it will continue to get worse and more deadly.

Horrifying headlines daily do not have to be our normal, John. But it will take all of us, together, to change our country as we know it. We need to push our lawmakers to take action to protect us, in states and Congress, and stop the NRA's 'guns everywhere' agenda – that's what Brady is working to do every day. And we can't do it without your help.
Make a gift to help Brady keep chipping away at the gun lobby's deadly influence and save lives. >>
