Fellow activist,
Recently, there was a major court case win in Wisconsin that we wanted to share with you for a very important reason…
But first, here’s some background: Earlier this year, voters turned out in Wisconsin in what was one of the most expensive and competitive state Supreme Court races in our nation's history. Despite billionaire Elon Musk dumping more than 20 million dollars into the race in support of Republican Waukesha County judge and former Wisconsin Attorney General Brad Schimel, Dane County Judge Susan Crawford won the election, solidifying a liberal majority on the court.
Following this election, the WI Supreme Court heard a case on the state's archaic abortion ban from 1849 that sat dormant for five decades before Roe v. Wade was overturned. Because of the current liberal majority on the state Supreme Court, on July 2, 2025, they ruled (along ideological lines) to invalidate the near-total abortion ban and restore access in the state.
According to the New York Times, if this law remained, anyone who had an abortion could have faced six years in prison and a $10,000 fine. The overturning of this draconian ban is a major win for families in the Midwest.
As we always say, elections matter.
Here’s why this matters to us: All eyes are now on Pennsylvania as Republicans have set their sights on running a massive anti-retention campaign against three PA Supreme Court justices (originally elected as Democrats). Our state Supreme Court is critical in not only protecting our fundamental freedoms, like reproductive rights, but also holding the Trump regime accountable, ensuring that PA has fair congressional maps, protecting voting rights, climate and environmental justice, and addressing other issues that impact our daily lives.
It’s critical that Pennsylvanians and eligible voters understand how important state courts are and how they’re protecting our rights and freedoms, and we need your help to make that happen.
We need your help now to be able to provide civic education to Pennsylvanians and turn them out to vote ahead of the general election this year. Please help fund our voter education and mobilization campaigns by donating $25 or more today.

Now more than ever before, we must ensure that our state and federal courts remain fair and independent.
