The Land Use Charter Changes That Might Be on Your Ballot This Fall

You may have heard of the Uniform Land Use Review Procedure (ULURP), the city's public review process for new development. There could be a new 'LURP' in town soon: the Expedited Land Use Review Procedure (ELURP), one of the proposals NYC voters might be asked to vote on in November.

The mayor’s Charter Revision Commission drafted a series of changes to streamline and speed up how the city approves new housing projects. Some are likely to draw controversy, particularly those that could diminish the role of New York City Council members in land use decisions.
