Hi friend,

There are moments in public service that leave you shaken — moments when you
see just how far some will go to protect the wealthy and powerful at the
expense of those with the least.

This is one of those moments.

Donald Trump’s so-called “Big Ugly Bill” has now been signed into law.

It slashes billions from the SNAP program — the Supplemental Nutrition
Assistance Program that helps feed children, seniors, veterans, and working
families.

What does that mean in real terms?

* It means a hungry child going to school without breakfast.
* It means a parent skipping meals to make sure their kids can eat.
* It means millions more Americans facing food insecurity — all so
billionaires can get another tax break.
This isn’t fiscal responsibility. It’s cruelty.

And it marks the biggest transfer of wealth from the poor to the rich in our
country’s history.

I’ve spent my career fighting to protect the most vulnerable — and I will not
stop now. But the truth is, we need a movement behind us. One vote won’t undo
this. It’s going to take all of us standing together to fight back.
