I’m grateful we have a chair that will call it like it is, no BS. As the Executive Director of the TDP, I have been horrified seeing Greg Abbott’s response and movements over the last week.

Let me be clear: What we’re seeing from him with this special session and redistricting is nothing short of disgusting political gamesmanship. It’s appalling.

Communities across Texas are still reeling from the floods and devastation, but Greg Abbott isn’t racing to fix broken warning systems or restore positions cut by the National Weather Service. Nope, he’s too busy trying to keep Trump happy while he quietly rips apart our democracy.

Like Kendall said, we can’t EVER look for good sense in our dear governor.

Abbott just called a special session of the Texas legislature. Not to fund disaster relief or protect Texas families (that’s what he’d like us to believe) — but to sneak in a last-minute gerrymander of congressional districts mid-cycle. Why? Because he knows the truth: Texas is trending Blue, and he’s running scared.

Let’s be clear: * Texas has the second-largest share of Democratic votes in the country.
* Abbott wants to take away up to 5 U.S. House seats from Democrats.
* That’s not just about Texas — it’s about robbing the entire country of the power to hold Donald Trump accountable in Congress.

Some political parties build coalitions when they’re doing well. Others — like the Texas GOP — rewrite the rules to cling to power.
