EDUCATOR SPOTLIGHT
Jim Gilman and students in front of exhibit at Powell High School
Jim Gilman
Art Teacher
Powell High School, PCSD1
The Powell High School art program is one of a kind. Mr. Gilman and his students continue to create amazing, large-scale projects that inspire and impress all who have the opportunity to see them. Mr. Gilman maintains high expectations for his students while, at the same time, providing ample support for them to be successful with tasks that challenge them to think critically and creatively. Mr. Gilman incorporates a multidisciplinary approach through which students learn history, math, robotics, and a host of other subjects when completing these projects. These experiences will stick with them for a lifetime, and they will always be able to reflect on their work with pride. The projects that adorn the halls of PHS are a source of pride for our school and serve as evidence that students are engaged in learning at high levels.
"Mr. Gilman has created an art program unlike any other in our state, perhaps unlike any in the country. He is a great choice for Superintendent Degenfelder's Educator Spotlight."
- Tim Wormald, Principal at Powell High School, PCSD1
