John, rural America is home to the farms, natural resources and hardworking people who are the backbone of our country.
But children growing up in these communities are often overlooked, and the challenges they face — like generational poverty — are widely misunderstood.
In fact, 1 in 5 kids lives in poverty in rural America. Their families struggle to find essential services like child care, education and health care, making it difficult to build a brighter future.
But this doesn’t have to be the last word for kids in rural America.
By investing in early education, we can give children and their families the tools they need to thrive.
Here are a few examples of the work we’re doing in 300 rural communities across 14 states:
- We empower parents to be their child’s first and best teacher, giving them the tools, structure and confidence to support early development.
- We boost reading and math skills through targeted help and resources.
- We work to close the rural teacher gap by supporting educators in earning their certifications and degrees.
- We provide emergency relief to help kids return to school after disasters, like flooding and hurricanes.
Together with kids, parents, educators, local partners and compassionate people like you, we help thousands of rural children unlock their full potential. By working together, we can pave the way for a brighter, more prosperous future for them.
So, which of the statements above about America do you think is true?
