Upon his arrival, Jacob found a young man with his shirt draped over his le=
ft arm, hiding whatever was in his waistband. Following protocol, Jacob ord=

And in the next few seconds, both their lives changed forever.</p><p style=

=A9 and drew what appeared to be a firearm.</p><p style=3D"margin:0;margin-=
bottom:16px">Jacob=E2=80=99s training kicked in. He fired his service weapo=
n.</p><p style=3D"margin:0;margin-bottom:16px">The man fell to the ground, =
but he continued to reach for his weapon=E2=80=93 ignoring Jacob=E2=80=99s =
commands to show his hands and stop reaching for the gun.</p><p=20
style=3D"margin:0;margin-bottom:16px">Jacob fired additional shots, killing=
the armed man.</p><p style=3D"margin:0;margin-bottom:16px">We later learne=
d that the man=E2=80=99s weapon was an airsoft gun.</p><p style=3D"margin:0=
;margin-bottom:16px">My heart broke for the young man=E2=80=99s family. But=
I also thanked God for protecting my fianc=C3=A9 that night. It easily cou=
ld have been his life lost on that median.</p><p style=3D"margin:0;margin-b=
ottom:16px">
The New Mexico State Police launched an in-depth investigation into Jacob=
=E2=80=99s actions.</p><p style=3D"margin:0;margin-bottom:16px">I knew with=
out a doubt the shooting was justified. After all, the suspect drew a firea=
rm on an officer and would not back down.</p><p style=3D"margin:0;margin-bo=
ttom:16px">So, we were relieved =E2=80=93 but not surprised =E2=80=93 when =
the State Police cleared Jacob of any wrongdoing and reinstated him on the =
force in September.</p><p style=3D"margin:0;margin-bottom:16px">
That should have been the end of this story...</p><p style=3D"margin:0;marg=
in-bottom:16px">But out of nowhere, an anti-police prosecutor filed First-D=
egree Murder charges against Jacob.</p><p style=3D"margin:0;margin-bottom:1=
6px">Now my fianc=C3=A9 faces life in prison for doing his job and defendin=
g himself in the line of duty.</p><p style=3D"margin:0;margin-bottom:16px">

f my biggest fears. Political prosecutions of police officers is at an all-=
time high right now and New Mexico is not a police-friendly state.</p><p=20

s is happening to <em>my</em> fianc=C3=A9.</p><p style=3D"margin:0;margin-b=
ottom:16px">We=E2=80=99re in our 20s. We have our entire lives ahead of us.=
Now all our hopes and dreams may be destroyed by an anti-cop prosecutor wi=
th an ax to grind against law enforcement.</p><p style=3D"margin:0;margin-b=
ottom:16px">So, instead of saving for a wedding and our future together, Ja=
cob and I scraped together enough money to hire an attorney.</p><p=20

My desperate prayers were answered when we received a phone call from Jason=

=A9 and drew what appeared to be a firearm.</p><p style=3D"margin:0;margin-=
bottom:16px">Jacob=E2=80=99s training kicked in. He fired his service weapo=
n.</p><p style=3D"margin:0;margin-bottom:16px">The man fell to the ground, =
but he continued to reach for his weapon=E2=80=93 ignoring Jacob=E2=80=99s =
commands to show his hands and stop reaching for the gun.</p><p=20

the armed man.</p><p style=3D"margin:0;margin-bottom:16px">We later learne=
d that the man=E2=80=99s weapon was an airsoft gun.</p><p style=3D"margin:0=
;margin-bottom:16px">My heart broke for the young man=E2=80=99s family. But=
I also thanked God for protecting my fianc=C3=A9 that night. It easily cou=
ld have been his life lost on that median.</p><p style=3D"margin:0;margin-b=

The New Mexico State Police launched an in-depth investigation into Jacob=
=E2=80=99s actions.</p><p style=3D"margin:0;margin-bottom:16px">I knew with=
out a doubt the shooting was justified. After all, the suspect drew a firea=
rm on an officer and would not back down.</p><p style=3D"margin:0;margin-bo=
ttom:16px">So, we were relieved =E2=80=93 but not surprised =E2=80=93 when =
the State Police cleared Jacob of any wrongdoing and reinstated him on the =

That should have been the end of this story...</p><p style=3D"margin:0;marg=
in-bottom:16px">But out of nowhere, an anti-police prosecutor filed First-D=
egree Murder charges against Jacob.</p><p style=3D"margin:0;margin-bottom:1=
6px">Now my fianc=C3=A9 faces life in prison for doing his job and defendin=
