The U.S. economy shrank 0.5% in the first quarter of 2025, the worst drop in
three years, driven by President Trump’s trade wars and soaring tariffs.
Consumer spending plummeted from 4% to just 0.5%, and Americans’ confidence in
jobs and income hit its lowest point since the COVID-19 pandemic. These policies
are hitting working families hard, raising costs and threatening job security.
