In just a moment, I'm going to ask you to make a donation to Ben Ray Luján's campaign in New Mexico. But I hope you'll first give me a chance to explain why this is so important.
Flipping the Senate this fall is critical, and part of that task means we need to save a few seats too.
One of those seats is in New Mexico. It's also one of the few open seats this cycle.
But the good news is that we have a great candidate in Ben Ray Luján, who just won the primary earlier this month. Ben Ray is a personal friend, and I need him in the Senate. He's the highest-ranking Latino in Congress, and he will be a critical voice to turn back President Trump's racist anti-immigrant policies. He's also a true believer in campaign finance reform and voting rights.
Right now, he's facing his first FEC deadline of the general election, and he's counting on grassroots support to help him get off to a strong start. So here's where I ask:
Will you split a $3 donation between Ben Ray Luján and my campaign to help us flip the Senate in November? It'll go a long way in helping us end Mitch McConnell's majority.
I know there's not a lot of national attention on this race, but this is not a seat that we can take for granted.
,strong>A poll from Public Policy Polling earlier this month showed that 18 percent of voters were undecided. The race is far from over.
This is not a year that we can take chances. We need to make sure every single one of our candidates has the resources that they need to compete.
