John, it's Lois Frankel.
Donald Trump calls the House spending bill his “Big Beautiful Bill.” But for the people I represent in Florida, and for millions of Americans across the country, there’s nothing beautiful about it.
This legislation is the largest transfer of wealth from the poor and middle class to the ultra-rich in our nation’s history, and it’s being paid for on the backs of working families and seniors. The numbers prove it:
🏥 17 million Americans (including 2 million Floridians) may lose their health insurance. 🛒 Millions more will struggle to afford groceries without SNAP. 📈 Health centers will cut services, a quarter of nursing homes could close, and private insurance premiums could rise by hundreds of dollars. 🚫 It puts the 50+ year old AARP members at risk of losing their Medicaid, even if they're too sick to work.
💰 To top it off, the bill adds $4 trillion to the national deficit, saddling future generations with debt.
And for what? So the wealthiest one percent can walk away with more than $1 trillion in tax breaks? |
I won't stand for it. I'm committed to putting care over costs and people over politics. Every. Single. Time. That's why I voted no on Trump's big ugly bill. |
