FEMA Assistance is Available for Individuals Impacted by Flooding in Central Texas
FEMA has provided information about FEMA assistance for homeowners and renters impacted by recent flooding in counties in Central Texas.
Those in Kerr, Burnet, San Saba, Tom Green, Travis, and Williamson counties are now eligible for FEMA disaster assistance after the severe storms, straight-line winds, and flooding that began on July 2nd.
FEMA and the State of Texas may help with serious disaster-related needs, displacement, temporary lodging, basic repair costs, and personal property losses.
Previously, Kerr County was designated for FEMA assistance which means survivors with losses in Kerr County can apply even if they do not live in the county or in Texas.
Survivors with homeowner, renter, and/or flood insurance are encouraged to file a claim with insurance carriers as soon as possible. By law, FEMA cannot provide funding for losses covered by insurance. If the policy does not cover all disaster expenses, an individual may be eligible for federal assistance.
There are several ways to apply for FEMA assistance. The quickest way is to use DisasterAssistance.gov [ [link removed] ]. Other options include the FEMA App available on mobile devices or calling the FEMA helpline at 800-621-3362. Lines are open daily from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. Central Time. While helpline operators speak many languages, there is an option to press 2 for Spanish.

Disaster Recovery Centers are also open to provide in-person assistance. A recovery center is open from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily at First Baptist Church, 625 Washington St., Kerrville TX 78028. As more centers open, check for locations closer to you by using your zip code at FEMA.gov/DRC [ [link removed] ].
