Dear NRDC Action Fund Activist,
We just saw countless attacks on our public lands and imperiled wildlife in the deeply unpopular reconciliation bill passed earlier this month — and now, wildlife are facing another threat in Washington.
Anti-environmental Republicans in Congress have introduced the ESA Amendments Act, a vast, sweeping assault on wildlife that would gut lifesaving protections for our nation’s most imperiled species under the Endangered Species Act.
We must mobilize a massive public outcry against this devastating bill and show Congress and the Trump administration that we will keep fighting to defend vulnerable wildlife and their homes. Can I count on you to help?
Your members of Congress need to hear from YOU: Tell them you oppose the ESA Amendments Act — and you won’t stay silent and let them drive endangered wildlife further toward extinction.
The Endangered Species Act is our most effective and important tool for combating the alarming decline of wildlife across the United States. Hundreds of species like our national bird, the bald eagle, were almost extinct until they were saved by this law’s protections. And a million species are at risk of extinction in the coming decades.
The new ESA Amendments Act would make dozens of harmful changes to this lifesaving law, including eliminating any review of permits for logging, drilling, and other industrial activities.
Corporations would be given a free pass to destroy wildlife habitat, the main cause of species extinction worldwide. Grizzly bears, Florida panthers, manatees, and over 1,300 endangered and threatened species would face even more risks.
Congressional Republicans, backed by their allies in the Trump administration, have been pushing for more drilling and mining across vast swaths of our public lands and waters... threatening to shrink or eliminate iconic national monuments... and gutting staff at national parks under the guise of solving a “national energy emergency.”
But our country is not in an energy emergency — we’re the world’s leading producer of oil and gas. This new bill is yet another attack on imperiled species and their habitats to drive more polluter profits.
Help us show anti-wildlife members of Congress that we won’t stay silent while they bulldoze over crucial endangered species protections.
The NRDC Action Fund is fighting back against this legislation and other legislative attempts to weaken or strip critical protections from imperiled wildlife, which we could see as soon as this month.
Our partner organization NRDC is taking on dire threats to wildlife at risk — including preparing to go to court if necessary. But in the meantime, we need your help to mobilize as many people as possible to make their voices heard right away.
Send your urgent message to help protect endangered wildlife before it’s too late.
Sincerely,
Rebecca Riley
