Dear John,
I am excited to invite you and your family to join us for a special event that blends innovation, education, and community spirit—Technology in the Park: Back to School, kicking off our 2025 Congressional App Challenge on Saturday, August 16th.

Hosted at Columbus Park (Jackson & Central), this event is designed for middle and high school students who are ready to explore the world of technology and app development. No experience is necessary—just curiosity, creativity, and a willingness to learn.
We’ll begin with a briefing at 10:00 a.m. near Bloomingdale and Central, followed by interactive Congressional App Challenge activities at 12:30 p.m. Students will have the chance to meet mentors, develop new skills, and learn how to design applications for mobile phones, social media, and websites.
Partners, including Lenovo, Walgreens, Chicago Park District, Bright Leadership Institute, Westside NAACP, Sankofa, Project Exploration, and the Westside Health Authority, will be present and/or support our youth and share community resources.
In addition to tech programming, the day will include free book bags, school supplies, food, and refreshments, generously provided by our sponsors. This is a back-to-school celebration you won’t want to miss!
The Congressional App Challenge is part of a national initiative encouraging students to pursue careers in STEM by building their own original apps. Finalists will be recognized by Congress, and winners will have their apps displayed at the U.S. Capitol.
I encourage every eligible student in the 7th District to register and participate. You can register here:
