Hi,
Today is World Orca Day — but for two orcas in France,
there’s nothing to celebrate.
Wikie and her son Keijo are circling endlessly in small,
algae-filled tanks at the closed Marineland Antibes.1 The
facility shut down after France banned cetacean captivity, but these
orcas — and 12 bottlenose dolphins — were left behind.
Send a letter to President Macron now and urge
him to get these animals to safety.
In the wild, orcas swim up to 40 miles a day. Dolphins can swim
nearly 30.2 These are highly intelligent, social species
that need stimulation, space, and care. Instead, they’re trapped in
silence and isolation — with no clear plan for release.
Wikie has already lost two family members in the last two
years. Without action, she and her son could be next.
France led the way by banning captivity. Now, it must follow
through. Add your voice today and help free
them.
For life,
Kathleen Rogers President
P.S. Star Trek star William Shatner recorded a video for EARTHDAY.ORG that made the news.
Join him in asking President Macron to save these
animals.
