I wanted you to hear about this from me, John:
Earlier this month, I vetoed a bill that would have increased your energy bills, raised rates on regular people to lower them for big industry, and reneged on our state’s clean energy goals — making our state more reliant on the volatile fossil fuel market and undermining our clean energy economy.
If this bill were enacted, higher costs of natural gas could end up costing North Carolina ratepayers up to $23 billion by 2050.
I couldn’t let that stand.
John, if you agree that advancing clean energy options in North Carolina is essential to bringing costs down for consumers, I’m asking you to sign your name in support of my veto >>>
This summer’s record heat has made it clearer than ever: We need to focus on lowering electricity costs for working families and securing our energy market by diversifying our energy sources.
That’s why growing our clean energy economy and the tens of thousands of good-paying jobs that we’ve created is a key goal of our administration, and it’s why I remain committed to upholding the clean energy goals we’ve established to make sure we get there.
I have pledged to do everything possible to lower costs and grow North Carolina’s economy. I plan to uphold that promise. Instead, this bill would have raised rates on North Carolina households. That is why I vetoed this bill.
John, add your name to support this veto and expanding clean energy options in North Carolina!
Thanks for standing with me,
Josh Stein
