Senators, Pop Stars Fight to Keep Woke Sliver of PEPFAR that African Leaders Rejected |
by Suzanne Bowdey |
It's an issue that's rocketed to the attention of everyone from Hollywood elites to Silicon Valley. Names like Bono and Bill Gates have used their significant capital to demand that a George W. Bush-era project be spared from the reforms it desperately needs. On stage at Otter Creek Church, even Christian singer Amy Grant pulled out her phone to dial the Washington office of Senator Bill Hagerty (R-Tenn.) in front of the audience. "We want you to know that here in Nashville, we want to see full funding of PEPFAR," she said, "so that we can stay on track to end the HIV/AIDS epidemic..." There's just one problem: there's no reason to believe that the program - at least in its current form - can. |

Praying Government Officials Beg Americans to Pray |
by Joshua Arnold |
In the face of natural disasters like the recent flash flooding in Texas, even the most powerful government officials must resort to prayer. "Father, we're humbled by your grace. We're humbled by your mercy. God, we surrender to you. Jesus, you are the great Redeemer," prayed Secretary of Housing and Urban Development Scott Turner at Tuesday's cabinet meeting. "Lord God, as we work together as a cabinet ... [we pray] that you would give us all the tools that we need to show up and support and help to rebuild and to restore." |

Tolerating Riots Hurts Cops, Leads to Lawlessness |

An inability to squelch riots is a feature of a failing, or at least a flailing, nation. The U.S. has been struggling with this problem for a decade now, and police and urban-dwelling Americans are paying the highest price. |

Dem Governor Pushes to Fund the Gap for Planned Parenthood in Face of Federal Cuts |
by |
President Donald Trump's much-touted "Big, Beautiful Bill" originally included a provision to defund abortion giant Planned Parenthood for a whole decade. By the time the legislation made it through both chambers of Congress and landed on the president's desk, however, that provision had been significantly pared down to only one year without Medicaid funding. But that's still too long for the brand-name abortion industry flagship to go without taxpayer dollars, according to one state governor. |

Are Illegal Immigrants Using Taxpayer-Funded Benefits? Not Anymore. |
by S.A. McCarthy |
In another move to tackle illegal immigration, President Donald Trump and his administration are ensuring that illegal immigrants cannot access taxpayer-funded programs. The White House announced Thursday that the Trump administration "is taking the biggest step in more than 30 years to protect taxpayer-funded benefits for American citizens - NOT illegal aliens." The Departments of Health and Human Services (HHS), Education (DOE), Agriculture (USDA), and Labor (DOL) have all moved to ensure that illegal immigrants cannot take advantage of taxpayer-funded programs, which the White House estimates will save "roughly $40 billion in benefits for American citizens..." |

It's Time to Examine Your Faith. Are You Lukewarm? |
by Sarah Holliday |
"Don't be a lukewarm Christian." Ever heard that phrase? For some, it's a familiar rallying cry; for others, it's a grating cliche that sparks annoyance. Critics argue it's nitpicky, overused, or even weaponized in judgmental ways. Sure, like any saying, it can be tossed around carelessly or misapplied. But how often do we pause to dig into what it truly means to be a "lukewarm" Christian? Not just the definition, but what it looks like in our lives - our choices, our passions, our daily walk. Why does it matter if someone labels us as lukewarm, and more importantly, why should we care? |

The Choice within My Grief |
by Caily Shriver |
Where will my grief take me? It's interesting that the most unavoidable, predetermined, and consistent fact of life is the one thing that destroys us most. In case you weren't aware: your earthly life, and the earthly lives of all those you know, will end soon. Today? Let's hope not. But we all know the end is imminent. Our response to grief, though, is a choice; grief can pull us away from God or draw us near to Him. "As for God, his way is perfect: The Lord 's word is flawless; he shields all who take refuge in him" (Psalms 18:30). But it is up to us to choose where our grief takes us. |
