John,
Donald Trump has nominated two of his loyalists to help run the U.S. Postal Service, and if the Senate confirms them, the future of the USPS could be in serious danger. Here’s what we’re looking at:
His nominee, Anthony Lomangino, is a Mar-a-Lago megadonor with zero Postal Service experience and deep business ties to Trump’s new Postmaster General. His company funneled nearly $9 million into pro-Trump super PACs — and he personally donated $150,000 to defend Trump associates under federal investigation.
His other nominee, John LaValle, is a longtime MAGA surrogate and former Republican Party boss, known more for political loyalty than public service.
Neither one of them has any real qualifications that would help them lead the Postal Service — but that’s because Trump’s not counting on them to improve it. They’re being put there to help dismantle it.
This is part of Trump's broader scheme to pack the USPS Board of Governors with his own allies, gut all public oversight, and fast-track the privatization of the Postal Service, which would devastate rural, Indigenous, and low-income communities nationwide.
If these two are confirmed, the board’s balance of power would shift: 1 Independent. 2 Democrats. 4 Republicans. 2 open seats.
We can’t let Trump win. The Senate must stand up and reject these nominees to protect the Postal Service from being sold off to corporate profiteers.
Thanks for taking action,
Democratic Values
