Friends,
Mark your calendars for our September 5 general meeting! We’re gearing up for the 2019 Plastic Free Challenge, and this meeting will be all about trash.
Waste to energy or zero waste? Our featured speaker in September will be Mike Ewall, founder and director of Energy Justice Network, a national support network for grassroots community groups fighting dirty energy and waste industry facilities such as coal power plants, ethanol plants, natural gas facilities, landfills, and incinerators of every sort. He’ll share his research on waste-to-energy facilities, like Covanta Fairfax, and a whole bunch of tips for going zero waste.
No straw, please. In September we’ll also launch Earth Friendly Fairfax, a campaign to address all manner of waste generated by local restaurants. Learn how you can help us grow our network of Earth Friendly restaurants in Fairfax County and beyond.
Take the Challenge! We’ll also preview some exciting events and opportunities coming up this October during our 2019 Plastic Free Challenge. If you haven’t signed up, do it now at https://350fairfax.org/plastic-free-challenge/.
#StrikeWithUs. Our house is on fire. Let's act like it. We'll share final details for the 9/20 DC Climate Strike (including several transportation options) and our Global Week of Action event on 9/24.
