Dear Neighbor,
Welcome to this week’s update from my office! I hope you’re enjoying a peaceful and relaxing weekend with loved ones. In this issue, I’m proud to highlight recent efforts to support patients, honor our promises to the American people, and advocate for our Veterans and seniors. You'll also find behind-the-scenes insights from Capitol Hill and helpful resources if you or your family need assistance. Our thoughts are with the families in Texas affected by the recent flooding, and we remain committed to ensuring they receive the support and resources they need during this difficult time. Please continue reading to learn more about how I'm working for you.
Supporting Patients: I’m working to strengthen innovation and expand collaboration in the fight against rare diseases—while also reducing our dependence on foreign supply chains. These reforms will help drive progress in patient care and ensure America remains a global leader in medical research. Read more about how we’re driving real progress by clicking here.
Meanwhile, nearly 90% of the $4.1 trillion spent annually on U.S. health care goes toward treating chronic conditions like diabetes and heart disease. That’s why I introduced the Expanding Access to Diabetes Self-Management Training Act—to help seniors take control of their health, reduce long-term costs, and live with greater dignity and independence. This isn’t just smart policy—it’s a promise to build a healthier future for our communities.
Helping Seniors: Research shows that improving access to medication and disease management can lead to better outcomes for our most vulnerable seniors. My Cutting Copays Act would eliminate all copayments for generic drugs under Medicare Part D’s Low Income Subsidy (LIS) program, known as “Extra Help.” More than 14 million low-income seniors and people with disabilities rely on this program. Removing cost-sharing for generic medications is a commonsense step that supports better health and fiscal responsibility. No senior should ever have to choose between groceries and the medicine they need.
Seniors have faced immense challenges in recent years—and they deserve better. That’s why I’ve cosponsored the No Taxation on Social Security Act, which ends the unfair taxation of Social Security benefits. While this provision was excluded from the recent reconciliation package due to Senate rules, I remain committed to delivering on this promise. Combined with the newly enacted $6,000 senior deduction, this legislation offers real relief for seniors who need it most.
Strengthening Our National Security: Every day, our Border Patrol agents risk their lives to keep our communities safe. The recent violent ambush against agents is horrifying and unacceptable—fueled by reckless rhetoric from the far left. I’m praying for the injured agent’s full recovery and for the continued safety of all those serving in border enforcement.
On the global stage, I was encouraged by Lebanon’s recent response to diplomatic efforts led by Trump Administration negotiators. Let’s hope this momentum brings us closer to a lasting peace in the Middle East and strengthens the security of our closest ally, Israel.
Delivering on Our Promises: The truth is clear—there’s no comparison. With the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, we’re delivering on the promises made to the American people: stronger borders, safer streets, and a government that works for you.
Protecting Consumers: The Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (FDACS) is warning of a rise in email subscription scams. Cybercriminals are targeting Floridians with phishing emails that impersonate popular streaming services like Netflix and Hulu—aiming to steal personal information and credit card numbers. Please stay vigilant and avoid clicking suspicious links.
Supporting Our Nation’s Heroes: Last week, I met with senior Department of Defense officials to continue advocating for my Major Richard Star Act, which addresses the injustice facing many wounded Veterans. Click here to read more about one of the 50,000 families who are struggling with this issue.
Community Connection
I am fortunate to have a team of dedicated staff who regularly attend events throughout our community, especially when I am required to be in Washington, DC. Through their collective efforts, I am better able to stay connected to the issues that matter most to my constituents. As part of my commitment to developing a better understanding of the issues facing constituents in Citrus, Hernando and Pasco counties, members of my team attended several events last week. Here are a few highlights.
My team recently met with hurricane flooding victims in East Pasco County who are still facing serious challenges. We’ve been in contact with federal and state agencies to help them access the support and resources they urgently need.
This month, my team also joined the YouThrive Farm Share event in Hernando County to help distribute food to families in need.
Additionally, my team was honored to celebrate the Habitat for Humanity home dedications for two deserving families in Citrus County. I wish them many years of happiness, stability, and good fortune in their new homes.
Constituent Corner
My team recently received this message from a constituent after my team successfully obtained his military records.
Thank you for your help getting my records. I had a horrible time getting them on my own. The first time I tried took six weeks, the second time was 6 months - all without success. Your staff got them for me in 6 days. Thank you!
This is just one example of the work we do each day. Constituent services are a critical element of our congressional office. The federal government is a massive operation, and my office is available if you ever need assistance in navigating the bureaucracy or cutting through red tape. We are here to serve you! |
