John,
Cruelty is the point.
Whether it’s the inhumane conditions being reported from Alligator Alcatraz,1 the disappearing of U.S. residents to torture prisons abroad,2 or the oppression of our free speech rights as we push back against an authoritarian regime,3 we will not look away as this administration shreds our laws and the Constitution itself.
The newly passed Big Ugly Bill takes health care and nutrition away from tens of millions of everyday people to not only help pay for more tax cuts for billionaires. These devastating cuts also helped make ICE the largest law enforcement agency in America, larger than most countries’ militaries.4,5
Our voices and our resistance are more critical than ever to hold this administration accountable. We worry that individuals and foundations that traditionally fund our work on human needs and voting rights may be scared off by the administration’s threats.
So, as the administration marches its armies through our streets and our parks, we need our own army of grassroots supporters to power our resistance and our critical work for human rights and justice.
Rush a contribution today to power our resistance against the Trump administration’s attacks on our rights.

-- DEBORAH'S EMAIL --
John,
Our right to due process is being eroded.1
Birthright citizenship is under attack.2
The military is in our streets and in our parks.3
And masked secret police are disappearing people across the country.4
This is authoritarianism with a mission: cruelty, oppression, and rash exercise of power for self-interested gain.
The attacks are so widespread that it is difficult to keep up. And that is exactly the point.
But we are keeping up and we will not stop fighting back. Whether it is the largest cut to health care in American history, attacks on nutrition for kids, older adults, and people with disabilities, or the torture of immigrants in concentration camps like Alligator Alcatraz, we must not look away.5
That’s why, every week, we are providing you with impactful actions to demand justice and accountability. It’s why we’re fighting for the rights of all people, from voting rights to human rights.
But even as we are not resting in our struggle for human decency, nonprofit organizations across the country are seeing their funding cut. Foundations that traditionally support our work for human needs and voter engagement are being scared off by the Trump administration’s threats.
Thankfully, we have you and many thousands of individuals across the country who will not be intimidated by this authoritarian regime. Will you rush a donation of $5 today to power our activism on behalf of vulnerable communities at this critical time?

What is being done to our country and our democracy is horrifying. But as the administration tries to tighten its grip, our resistance only grows stronger.
Thank you for being with us in this fight for our rights and our country’s future.
