At the end of this email, I’m going to personally ask you to chip in $3 toward my re‑election campaign. But before I do, let me explain the stakes.

First: I overcame millions in outside spending and flipped CA-27 blue. I was one of the only Democrats to defeat a Republican incumbent.

Then: The national GOP immediately made me a target. They spent early on dishonest attacks as I went to Washington to fight for our communities – prompting the DCCC to add me to their “Frontline” list of the most at-risk Democrats nationwide.

Now: I have my first declared Republican challenger in my first re-election race. He entered the race with a key endorsement from the MAGA Republican I defeated last year, Mike Garcia.

This is a watershed moment, John. The House majority will be won by a razor-thin margin, and we need to start the hard work now to push back against the many attacks to come.
