Dear neighbor,

Last week, I celebrated Fourth of July across southern California, heard directly from healthcare providers about devastating Medicaid and Medi-Cal cuts, and continued my fight to protect healthcare, education, and reproductive rights for our community.

This Week in California's 31st

Last week, I was honored to celebrate the Fourth of July across the District. Coming together to commemorate our nation's independence is a powerful reminder of our country's rich history and the shared ideals that unite us as Americans.

I had the pleasure of visiting Emanate Health in West Covina to tour the hospital and new expansion projects this past week. We discussed their concerns around Medicaid funding cuts and the detrimental impacts of cutting these vital health services. Medicaid is a lifeline for Californians, and I will continue to fight to protect affordable, accessible healthcare during my time in Congress.

Earlier this month, San Dimas Chamber of Commerce hosted their 2025-2026 Board Installation and Awards Ceremony. I'm proud to congratulate Business of the Year, Raging Waters. Thank you for your contributions to our community!

Catch-up with Congress

Last week, Republicans rammed through their "Big Ugly Unpopular" bill in the middle of the night.  I testified before the Rules Committee about the devastating impacts this bill would have on American families, including children, seniors, and veterans, but they refused to listen.

More than 80% of Planned Parenthood patients in California rely on Medi-Cal programs for healthcare. Trump's ugly bill just gutted funding for some of their most essential services like cancer screenings, birth control, and STI treatment. That's just in California; nationwide, 17 million Americans will soon lose access to their healthcare coverage as well.

This isn't just bad policy; it's un-American and will harm hardworking families. As long as I am your representative, I will do everything I can to protect families from its worst effects and continue fighting for greater funding and improved access to healthcare for all families.
