Donald Trump has just received a $16 million settlement from Paramount after suing them in a frivolous civil lawsuit, as the company seeks federal approval for a sale to a new owner. This suit is nothing more than thinly veiled bribery — and we have to close the loopholes now.

Donald Trump used the power of the presidency to take healthcare away from 17 million Americans, and now he used it to solicit a $16 million bribe!

Presidents should not be able to receive payouts from the very companies they regulate. I introduced the Don’t Settle for Bribes Act to prevent presidents from taking financial settlements from companies while in office.

JOHN, I want you to know that I will call out corruption wherever I see it. That is why I introduced a bill to ban Members of Congress from trading stocks, and it is why I also filed this new bill to prevent Presidents from taking bribes.

I will never stop holding other politicians accountable because public servants are there to improve lives for Americans, not to fatten their wallets through bribes and insider trading.
