A federal judge has granted a temporary restraining order blocking U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement and Customs and Border Protection from conducting illegal and unconstitutional stops of LA residents during immigration sweeps.
This is an important step forward in the lawsuit filed by civil and immigrants rights groups, led by the ACLU of Southern California, against ICE and CBP. A lawsuit I was proud to support and will continue to do so.

When federal immigration agents are used as tools to sow fear and division — wearing masks and driving unmarked vehicles, refusing to identify themselves, and stopping residents without a shred of evidence of wrongdoing — trust in law enforcement is diminished, public safety is put at risk, and people’s daily lives are disrupted.
