A month after Trump-appointed Commissioner Frank Bisignano covered up statistics on the average telephone wait time and other performance metrics, Bisignano is playing musical chairs to manage the understaffing crisis Donald Trump and Elon Musk created when they forced out 7,000 SSA workers:1

Whack-A-Mole isn’t a strategy. Bisignano’s moves will just make field offices fall even further behind. Tell Congress: Force Trump to reverse his cuts and fully staff Social Security!

When you take staff away from their normal field office duties, they are not resolving the more complicated claims processing that they would be doing otherwise. “Look for claims processing times to increase, and wait times for appointments,” the employee told the Washington Post.

DOGE had no idea what it was doing when it got rid of 7,000 Social Security staffers. And we’re all paying the price.

Americans pay into Social Security with every paycheck―and that includes the first-class service we deserve from the Social Security Administration. Donald Trump and Elon Musk’s ideological purge is breaking Social Security’s promise to retirees. We need to restore the Social Security Administration!
