The Missouri Senate just voted to punish Kansas City for protecting our immigrant neighbors. They want to slash funding because we believe that every person — no matter where they’re from — deserves safety, dignity, and opportunity.

 
This amendment, part of the state budget, echoes the intent of [SB 58]([link removed]) — a bill that would strip funding from cities like ours for refusing to turn local law enforcement into immigration police. We’re sharing the link so you can see for yourself just how serious this threat is.
 
Let me be clear: Kansas City will not be bullied into hate. We won’t abandon our values for politics.
