Passing of the One Big Beautiful Bill

After four years of incompetence, lawlessness, chaos, and overreach, a new day has dawned in this great country of ours and there is hope on the horizon with the One Big Beautiful Bill.

This is the most comprehensive and consequential set of conservative reforms in modern history. This One Big Beautiful Bill delivers the greatest single investment in border security and national defense; the largest tax cuts for families and small businesses; the most significant commitment to unlocking America’s energy resources; and the largest reduction in spending in the history of the United States—by two-fold.

There’s more work ahead, but this is a big win for the American people and the future of the greatest nation in human history.

Celebrating Border Security Reimbursement in the One Big Beautiful Bill

The One Big Beautiful Bill delivers the largest tax and spending cuts, national security investment, and energy deregulation in U.S. history - it also provides $13.5 billion to reimburse Texas and other border states that bore the brunt of Biden’s open border disaster. 
 
The Biden Administration refused to enforce immigration laws and defend our sovereign border fueling an unprecedented invasion of drugs, crime, and illegal migration. In response to abdication of the feds responsibility, Texas was forced to allocate over $11 billion in state taxpayer funds for border security - money diverted from state priorities like education and infrastructure. 
 
I am grateful to Governor Abbott, Senator Perry, and the entire Republican Texas Congressional Delegation for their leadership in ensuring these funds were included in the budget reconciliation bill.   
 
Republicans came together to right this wrong, and I’m proud to have delivered the resources necessary to reimburse Texas and other states that stepped up when their federal government failed them.

What better gift for the country’s birthday than the One Big Beautiful Bill and a safer, stronger, and more prosperous future! 

Texas Rises Together in Wake of Devastating Floods

My heart’s heavy as many of my fellow Texans feel the grief and the heartache for these families still waiting to be reunited with their loved ones.

I’m incredibly grateful for all first responders and military personnel assisting with rescues in Central Texas. Your courage and sacrifice is deeply appreciated.

Violence Against ICE Must End Now

An active shooter with a rifle & tactical gear ambushed Border Patrol agents as they arrived at a Border Patrol annex facility in McAllen, TX on July 7.

Thank God no law enforcement officers were injured in this cowardly attack.

This violence is a symptom of the anti-law enforcement rhetoric propagated by the radical-Left that prioritizes illegals over American citizens. It’s the same reason assaults against federal agents conducting immigration enforcement are up nearly 700% this year and why ICE and CBP agents have had Molotov cocktails thrown at them.

This violence must end, and I’m proud to stand with our brave law enforcement officers as they work to make our communities safer.

Standing Up for Taxpayers

I’m honored to be named the first-ever Taxpayer Defender of the Month by the National Taxpayers Union!

Folks in West Texas work hard, live within their means, and expect their government to do the same. As Budget Chairman, I’m laser-focused on reining-in spending, rooting out woke and wasteful programs, reducing the cost of living for hardworking families, and returning power back to We the People - exactly what we’re delivering through the One Big Beautiful Bill.
