Recently I warned you about Trump’s new executive order letting the VA deny care to veterans and fire the doctors and nurses who won’t swear loyalty to his warped political agenda.
The order stripped long-standing civil rights protections from VA policy—removing language that once guaranteed care and job security regardless of political affiliation, marital status, or national origin.
Now, without those protections, veterans and staff are more vulnerable to being targeted for who they are, how they vote, or what they believe.
It’s a damn coward’s move from a bone spur draft-dodger who wouldn’t last five minutes beside the people he’s trying to punish.
Trump’s loyalist MAGA goon squad in Congress has turned its back on the people who’ve worn the uniform.
They’re cheering on an administration that wants to slash 80,000 jobs from the VA, push us into another war in the Middle East, and strip care from the very people they send to fight.
Not one of them will lift a weapon. Not one of their kids will bleed for it. But they’ll vote yes from their leather chairs, send working-class troops to die, then come home and gut their benefits without blinking.
Well, I’ve had enough.
I spent 24 years in uniform. I didn’t do it so some hairspray tyrant and his fascist fan boys could turn the VA into a right-wing purity cult.
And I didn’t bury friends under folded flags just to watch a pack of smug Beltway cowards salute a five-time deferment fraud while he spits on everything we fought for.
So today, I’m launching a petition to the Department of Veterans Affairs alongside some of my fellow veteran candidates and national partners like Democratic Values, Democracy for America and People Power United (just to name a few). We demand they honor their mission to serve every veteran, no matter their party, partner, or politics.
And I’ll deliver it by hand. Right to their damn doorstep in DC.
Because if Trump thinks he can politicize our care, intimidate our providers, and get away with it, he’s about to learn what happens when pissed-off veterans and our fellow citizens decide to fight back.
Trump’s handpicked VA Secretary Douglas Collins is a veteran himself and he should know better. Tell him not to turn the VA into a partisan weapon.
Add your name now to tell the VA: we won’t let a damn political loyalty test decide who gets care and who gets tossed aside. We served our country. You serve us.
Let’s remind them the VA exists to serve EVERYONE who showed up and put everything on the line for this country. It exists for ANYONE who bled, who lost limbs and friends, who came home carrying wounds no one can see.
There’s no such thing as a partisan Purple Heart.
If you served, you deserve care—whether you’re married or not, no matter who you love, what party you vote for, or what god you do or don’t pray to.
And anyone who thinks they can turn that sacred trust into a political racket doesn’t belong near a single veteran—let alone the system meant to care for them.
