From wrapping up Dairy Month and Pride Month to celebrating the Wisconsin Supreme Court’s decision to invalidate our state’s 1849 abortion ban, there’s a LOT to dive into in this edition of the Rodriguez Report. Catch up on the Lieutenant Governor’s latest highlights below!

Lieutenant Governor Sara Rodriguez celebrated a major victory for Wisconsin women and families this month when the state Supreme Court struck down the archaic 1849 abortion ban in a 4-3 decision. The ruling ensures that reproductive healthcare decisions remain between women and their doctors — not politicians who know nothing about their faith, family, or circumstances.

The court's decision removes the threat of the 176-year-old law that had forced doctors to stop providing essential reproductive services since the U.S. Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade in 2022. Justice Rebecca Dallet's majority opinion recognized that Wisconsin's comprehensive abortion regulations passed over the past 50 years had effectively replaced the outdated ban.

But Republicans aren't giving up their attacks on women's healthcare. GOP legislators and extremist groups are already plotting their next moves to restrict access to care. That's why Lt. Gov. Rodriguez remains committed to fighting like hell for every person's right to make their own healthcare decisions — including access to birth control, fertility treatments, and abortion services.

GSAFE provides resources and training for educators and parents to support safety and inclusion for LGBTQ+ youth in schools. Sara had the opportunity to visit them in Madison and heard more from staff about the great work they do.

Sara visited with OutReach LGBTQ Center in Madison to hear from their team about the essential services and support they provide for the LGBTQ+ community in Madison and beyond.

Sara had the pleasure of touring the Ironworkers Local 8 Training Center in Neenah and meeting with workers to learn more about their top tier training programs. It’s always a great day to meet the hard-working men and women who keep Wisconsin moving forward!

Courage Plus provides fantastic resources and assistance to the LGBTQ+ community in Milwaukee, including the Courage House, Wisconsin’s first licensed group home for displaced LGBTQ+ youth. Thank you for hosting Sara!

Sara had the pleasure of stopping by the first ever Basketball and Leadership Camp hosted by the Mount Mary University basketball team! She spoke to camp attendees about the importance of women in leadership roles, and how they can use the skills they learn at camp every day.

Sara joined the ceremony for Badger Boys State to speak to students about the importance of civic engagement and getting involved, and hear the passion they have for public service.

Sara joined the Juneteenth Jubilee Parade alongside Senator Dora Drake in Milwaukee. Thank you to everyone in the community for putting together this wonderful celebration!

During Dairy Month last month, Sara visited dairy farms all over the state to meet with Wisconsin’s incredible farmers. Thank you to Feltz Family Farm, Tomandl Farms, Daluge Farm, Maple Hill Farm, Sheridan Flats Dairy, and Nasonville Dairy Store, and others for hosting her visits and sharing your work!

Happy 4th of July, Wisconsin! Sara joined the Wauwatosa community for their annual 4th of July parade. Even in a bit of rain, the community showed up to celebrate Independence Day!
