Mitch McConnell's Senate is still sitting on a bill that would help to secure our elections before November. Everyone should be able to vote in fair, safe conditions, but the Senate hasn't acted to make this a reality.

Instead of putting politics aside and enacting commonsense legislation that includes USPS funding, universal vote-by-mail, and no-excuse absentee voting -- Sen. McConnell has called the House's HEROES Act a "liberal wish list" and "an unserious product."

It's clear: the Senate Majority Leader would rather play partisan games to prevent people from voting than serve the people he's elected to represent. Contact your members of Congress and demand better.

Hyper-partisan politicians don't want to secure our elections because they know when everyone has a fair chance to vote -- they could be voted out of office. It's why they refuse to pass commonsense legislation and instead, actively work to suppress the vote. We just saw this in Georgia's recent primary election -- in what A.G. Holder called perhaps, "the clearest example of voter disenfranchisement this year."

We must combat voter suppression this year if we want to achieve fair maps in 2021. AOTL has spent the past few weeks sounding the alarm on McConnell's plan to prevent folks from casting their ballots safely this November.

The fight for fair maps will be tough. But, if we organize together, fight together, and persevere together -- we can protect our elections this year so we have a fair chance at ending map manipulation in 2021.
