Email from Rep. Van Duyne This week, I called on the Department of Transportation to fix a broken refund rule for small businesses Irving, TX – It was great to be at the White House with my House and Senate Republican colleagues to join President Trump when he signed the One Big Beautiful Bill into law! It was a great way to celebrate this landmark legislation. My heart goes out to every family who was impacted by the unprecedented flooding in the Hill Country. Our thoughts and prayers are with you. As we continue to work to find victims and help these communities recover, we are also thankful for the bravery, courage, and heroic actions of so many Texans who put themselves at great risk to save others: from the kids who were camp counselors and saved the lives of children under their care, to first responders who were positioned to rescue people from the flash flooding, and a US Coast Guard rescue diver saving 165 people on his first mission since enlisting - God put these people where they needed to be to help others escape the devastation. I recently toured Rentokil Terminix’s Innovation Center in Irving, which opened last year. The center is a great example of what happens when public health, pest control, and private-sector innovation come together, and shows off the best of collaboration in North Texas! It was great to meet with Honor Flight DFW, one of the 128 hubs part of the incredible Honor Flight Network, an organization working to bring as many WWII Veterans as possible to Washington, D.C. to see the World War II Memorial. Reminder that the 2025 North Texas Job Fair is less than a month away! You are invited to join us on August 7th from 11:00am - 3:00pm at Globe Life Field. Today, I was able to visit Kerr County with President Trump and the First Lady to hear directly from folks on the ground about how the federal government can best assist in recovery and rebuilding efforts that will take quite a long time. We also offered our continued prayers and condolences for the Hill Country. Yet, in the midst of devastation we saw, it was inspiring to see so many Texans coming together to support each other. We need to continue to pray for our fellow Texans, thank our first responders for their heroic efforts, and be eternally grateful for those who are working every day to help in the recovery efforts. Texas-24 Work of the Week This week, with eight of my colleagues in the House, we called on Secretary Duffy to fix a broken refund rule that’s hurting travel advisors and small businesses. We need to ensure our small businesses can thrive by removing burdensome regulations that make it harder for them to operate. Texas-24 Hometown Hero This week’s Texas-24 Hometown Heroes are Corrigan and Cannon Camp, Fort Worth twins who raised over $5,000 selling lemonade and "Tweety Cookies" for Camp Mystic after floods struck the Texas Hill Country this week. These two young leaders are a true inspiration to our community! 2025 North Texas Job Fair On August 7th, I’m hosting the North Texas Job Fair at Globe Life Field in Arlington from 11am – 3pm.
