Dear Friend,

When Democrats vote to raise your taxes, lower your wages, and funnel taxpayer-funded benefits to illegal aliens, they’re left with one tool: dishonesty. But the truth? The One Big Beautiful Bill (OBBB) that was signed into law last week delivers for all American workers, families, seniors, farmers, and small businesses.

Let’s start with tax relief. Americans earning between $30,000 and $80,000 will pay about 15% less in taxes as a result of the OBBB. In fact, the nonpartisan Joint Committee on Taxation found that the largest proportional tax cuts go to Americans making under $50,000 a year.

For families, the Council of Economic Advisers estimates that Wisconsin households will see $7,200 to $12,000 more in take-home pay. The bill also raises the Child Tax Credit to $2,200 per child and establishes a $1,000 investment account for American newborns, helping give every child a head start.

Additionally, it supports working parents by expanding access to the Employer-Provided Child Care Credit, encouraging more businesses to offer affordable child care. It eliminates taxes on tips and overtime, resulting in more take-home pay for police officers, nurses, factory workers, and countless others who keep our country running.

Seniors win too. Thanks to the enhanced $6,000 standard deduction, nearly 9 in 10 Social Security recipients—more than 51 million Americans—will no longer pay federal taxes on their Social Security benefits.

For farmers, the bill enhances crop insurance and provides support to ensure that family farms are not hit with punishing taxes when a loved one passes away.

When it comes to national security, the OBBB permanently secures our border, invests in finishing the border wall, and gives DHS the tools to carry out at least 1 million deportations per year.

And it protects vulnerable Americans by removing 1.4 million illegal aliens from programs like Medicaid, ensuring these resources are preserved and wait times are reduced for the most vulnerable Americans – such as seniors, low-income children, pregnant women, and individuals with disabilities. It also requires welfare recipients who are able-bodied and without young children to complete 20 hours of weekly work or volunteer service.

Lastly, the OBBB codifies 28 of President Trump’s America First executive orders, including those that unleash American energy production, expand mineral and timber development, and prevent taxpayer dollars from funding abortions. You can read more about those provisions here.

But Congress cannot take its foot off the gas. Next comes the appropriations process, where many of the DOGE cuts will be implemented. I will continue fighting to rein in Washington’s reckless spending and return power back to you, the taxpayer.

Thanks again for starting off your weekend with us! There’s much more in the Tiffany Telegram below. We will be back next week with more updates.

Sincerely,

Alongside President Trump, the House Freedom Caucus pushed the OBBB to deliver conservative wins. I will keep working to set a new standard in Washington.

“Green” energy, red flags

During my time in Congress, I have made it a priority to protect American farmland from being gobbled up by heavily subsidized solar and wind projects. That’s why I introduced the FARM Act, which would eliminate taxpayer-financed “green energy” industrial arrays on agricultural land. On a related note, an Energy Department report this week highlighted how critical it is to roll back endless taxpayer handouts to these unreliable energy systems – warning that Americans could face up to 800 hours of blackouts by 2030 as these “green” boondoggles displace reliable generation sources like coal, nuclear, and natural gas. When the green fantasy wins, the American people lose. Just look at the results in places like Spain and California. Thankfully, this month both Congress and President Trump took action to begin scaling back the Green New Scam. Through the One Big Beautiful Bill, we made key changes to so-called “green” energy tax credits, including the termination of subsidies for solar and wind. While I would have liked to see these green energy giveaways end immediately, President Trump is taking strict action to enforce the deadlines in the OBBB. Under his recent executive order, any project that hasn’t started construction within a year—or isn’t operational by the end of 2027—will lose taxpayer support. This is an important step toward restoring American energy dominance and protecting our family farms.

The “T” in TPS stands for “Temporary”

Ronald Reagan once famously joked that “nothing lasts longer than a temporary government program.” One obvious example of this is so-called “Temporary Protected Status” (TPS) immigration orders. As Telegram readers know, TPS is supposed to let foreigners already in the U.S. remain here for a short time if conditions in their country are too dangerous for them to return home due to a major catastrophe – like a natural disaster. Here is the problem: These temporary designations rarely ever end. One example is Honduras – a Central American country whose nationals received this special status in the wake of a major hurricane. That probably sounds OK – until you find out that this hurricane made landfall almost three decades ago in 1998. To put that in perspective for you, back then, Bill Clinton was in the White House, gasoline was $1.05 per gallon, Microsoft had just replaced General Electric as America’s most valuable company, and the first BlackBerry wouldn't hit store shelves for another year. Does that sound “temporary” to you? Me either. That’s why I took aim at this rolling amnesty workaround with a budget amendment last year. And while my amendment was defeated by a narrow margin at that time – this week, the Trump administration moved to finally put an end to this not-so-temporary status through executive action. You can read more about that here.

Canadian smoke is no joke

On Monday, I sent a letter to the Canadian Ambassador asking how their government plans to address the wildfires breaking out in their country that in turn is sending suffocating smoke down to our district and the rest of the Midwest. That’s why this week Rep. Brad Finstad (MN-01) and I joined four other lawmakers in sending a letter to Canada’s government asking them to implement stronger forest management practices to mitigate wildfire risk – as this is the third year in a row where this smoke has been a serious issue. As highlighted in a recent Telegram edition, with all the technology we have at our disposal to prevent and fight wildfires, there’s no reason this trend cannot be reversed if commonsense reforms are implemented. After all, we know these summer months in the Northwoods are some of the best to spend outdoors, so when folks can’t go outside due to the dangerous air quality created by this wildfire smoke, the Canadian government should have to answer some questions. I look forward to an official response to our letter, and I will provide an update on what hopefully will be some proactive steps our neighbors to the north plan to take. You can read the letter here.

I’m working to make sure Wisconsinites with respiratory concerns are protected from Canadian wildfire smoke.

Recent Legislation

Upholding your Second Amendment right

Through the passage of the One Big Beautiful Bill, Republicans were able to secure the elimination of the unnecessary transfer and manufacturing tax on suppressors, short-barreled rifles, and short-barreled shotguns. Our Constitution is clear – the right to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed, and while these provisions are a great first step to securing our Second Amendment, it is important for Congress to continue to enact strong legislation to further defend this right. That’s why I have cosponsored several pro-2A bills such as the Stop Harassing Owners of Rifles Today (SHORT) Act and the Constitutional Hearing Protection Act from Rep. Andrew Clyde (GA-09). These bills will ensure the removal of burdensome registration requirements for suppressors and both short-barreled rifles and shotguns and help prevent Washington bureaucrats from chipping away at our rights.

Big beautiful business

As I mentioned earlier, the One Big Beautiful Bill is a win for all Wisconsinites and delivers major wins for small businesses. This legislation makes permanent the Section 199A Small Business Deduction and increases it to 23 percent from 20 percent. This will provide long-term relief to over 30 million small business owners. It also renews 100 percent bonus depreciation, allowing businesses to immediately deduct the full cost of new equipment, which is crucial in industries like construction where equipment investments can be substantial. Plus, it renews full expensing for research and development. These reforms reduce tax burdens while helping small businesses reinvest in expansion, productivity, and their workers. The OBBB is projected to create over one million new jobs on Main Street. From local shops and farms to startups and sole proprietors, the OBBB ensures our small business community has the tools it needs to prosper. You can read more about these pro-growth provisions here.
