Farm animals need heroes like you.

Farm animals need your help

Dear John,

I recently wrote you about Farm Sanctuary’s work to end the abuse and slaughter of “downed” farm animals.

These vulnerable animals still need your help.

Our No Downers Campaign first achieved a nationwide ban on the slaughter of adult cows too sick or injured to stand or walk under their own power. Then, we strengthened the ban to protect downed calves, too. But the factory farming industry continues to abuse billions of animals every year, including downed pigs, goats, and sheep.

Farm Sanctuary is working to end this cruelty and create a better world for all farm animals. We recently filed suit against the USDA and Secretary of Agriculture Sonny Perdue for failing to protect sick or injured pigs.

But we need compassionate people like you to join us in the fight. I know you believe that animals deserve better than the misery faced on factory farms. If you’re in a position to help, I hope you will be the hero they need by becoming a member of Farm Sanctuary today.

You can help farm animals today

In my last email, I shared the story of Julia, a pig who was kicked, beaten, and prodded by factory farm workers until she collapsed. Just eight hours after arriving at our New York shelter, Julia gave birth to 16 premature piglets. This entire family would have died if Farm Sanctuary hadn’t come to the rescue just in the nick of time!

Farm Sanctuary gave Julia a lifetime of love and individualized care at our New York shelter. And, instead of being slaughtered at just six months old, her piglets grew up free to play in mud and frolic in pastures, thanks to kind-hearted friends like you.

Since 1986, we have saved thousands of animals like Julia from life-threatening cruelty and neglect at farms, stockyards, and slaughterhouses—and given them a permanent home at our sanctuaries and at other loving homes through our Farm Animal Adoption Network. In stark contrast to the factory farming industry, we treat farm animals as our friends—not faceless commodities.

We make a promise to provide our animals with a lifetime of love and good care. If you can, please help us keep that promise by joining Farm Sanctuary with a generous, tax-deductible gift today.

As a small thank you for taking the next step in your commitment to farm animals, you will receive exclusive benefits, including:

  • ACCESS to the cabin and tiny house accommodations at our New York shelter when we re-open to the public;
  • Seasonal VISITS to our sanctuaries to get to know our animal residents;
  • OPPORTUNITIES to sign petitions and speak out for farm animals;
  • SPECIAL ALERTS with breaking news about legislation regarding farm animals, urgent rescues, and more;
  • And a FREE subscription to our member magazine, which is full of heartwarming stories about the animals whose lives you’re changing through your caring support.

Best of all, as a Farm Sanctuary member you’ll help us care for nearly 1,000 farm animals at our two shelters and give them the full and happy lives they deserve. And you’ll allow us to share the stories of the animals we save with people across the country—helping them see every farm animal as someone, not something.

You’ll also join us in speaking out against the terrible abuses taking place on factory farms and—as we’re doing right now—go to court when necessary to fight for changes that will reduce the suffering of the most vulnerable farm animals.

We can rescue more animals the way we helped Julia and her babies. And we can improve the lives of all animals on farms right now. But we cannot do it without kind and caring people like you.

If your circumstances allow, please join Farm Sanctuary today. Your generous gift will help us change the lives of abused and abandoned farm animals for the better.

Thank you, in advance, for becoming part of Farm Sanctuary. Be safe, and be well.

Yours in compassion,

Gene Baur
President and Co-founder
