Email from Rep. Nehls Rep. Troy E. Nehls Prays for the State of Texas Greetings! I wanted to take a moment to share with you a recap of what happened last week in Texas' 22nd District and the United States House of Representatives. I ask that you join my family and me in praying for our fellow Texans in the Hill Country who have been impacted by the devastating floods. More than 100 lives have been lost, including children who were at Camp Mystic. Over 170 people are still missing. Thank you to all the first responders and volunteers who are working tirelessly to locate those who are missing. Texas is strong, and this will not break us. This Week in Washington, D.C. Trump Administration Announces Expedited Congressionally Mandated Disaster Assistance for Farmers This week, U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Brooke L. Rollins announced that agricultural producers from across the country who suffered eligible crop losses due to natural disasters in 2023 and 2024 can now apply for $16 billion in assistance through the Supplemental Disaster Relief Program (SDRP). The United States Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Farm Service Agency (FSA) is delivering service in two stages. The first stage is open to producers with eligible crop losses that received assistance under crop insurance or the Noninsured Crop Disaster Assistance Program during both 2023 and 2024. Stage One sign-ups will start in person at FSA county offices on July 10, and prefilled applications were mailed to producers on July 9. SDRP Stage Two signups for eligible shallow or uncovered losses will begin in early fall. To apply for SDRP, producers must submit the FSA-526, Supplemental Disaster Relief Program (SDRP) Stage One Application, in addition to having other forms on file with FSA. The FSA will announce additional SDRP assistance for uncovered losses, including non-indemnified shallow losses and quality losses, and how to apply later this fall. USDA disaster assistance information can be found on farmers.gov, including the Disaster Assistance Discovery Tool, Disaster-at-a-Glance fact sheet, Loan Assistance Tool, and the FarmRaise online FSA education hub. Payment details will be updated here weekly. For more information, contact your local USDA Service Center. This Week in Texas' 22nd District Department of State: Update on Passport Processing Times My District Office team provides valuable assistance to constituents navigating the U.S. passport application process, especially for those facing urgent travel needs. While the office does not process passports directly, it can intervene on behalf of constituents to expedite applications through the U.S. State Department. This support is particularly beneficial for individuals with imminent international travel plans or emergencies requiring swift passport issuance. As of June 2025, the U.S. Department of State estimates the following processing times: Routine Service: Approximately 4 to 6 weeks. Expedited Service: Approximately 2 to 3 weeks, with an additional fee of $60. Constituents seeking assistance should contact my Fulshear District Office with their passport application details and proof of travel plans. The office will coordinate with the appropriate federal agencies to facilitate the expedited processing of their passport applications. Federal resources, such as those provided by Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and Ready.gov, offer valuable guidance, including emergency alerts, disaster planning tools, and response checklists tailored to individual and family needs. As hurricane season approaches, staying proactive can make a significant difference. Monitor trusted sources like the National Hurricane Center for real-time updates and establish a comprehensive emergency plan that covers evacuation routes, family communication, and essential supplies. It’s also wise to prepare your home by securing outdoor items, reinforcing windows and doors, and reviewing your insurance policies—especially for those in coastal or flood-prone areas. For further assistance, FEMA’s Resource Library for Individual Assistance provides clear information on disaster support services, how assistance works, and what steps to take after applying. If you’ve already submitted a claim, visit I Applied for Assistance. What's Next? on FEMA.gov for guidance on next steps. Be sure to check out my website for further local and state resources on how to prepare for a natural disaster. If you have any questions or need support, please contact Congressman Nehls’ Fulshear District Office at (346) 662-6600. Our office is here to assist you throughout this hurricane season.
