Mourners at Saint Michael and All Angels Episcopal Church in Dallas gathered last Sunday to pray and grieve the deaths of the victims of last week’s horrific flooding in Hill Country, Texas.
According to reports, the over 600 in attendance sang the 1820’s hymn, “Abide with Me,” a Victorian era classic written Henry Francis Lyte. The poignant piece pleads with the Lord to comfort the hurting and heartbroken.
On Monday, officials from Camp Mystic, an all-girls Christian summer camp, confirmed the deaths of at least 27 campers and counselors. Ten other girls and a counselor are still unaccounted for.
“Our hearts ache with each news report coming from the Texas Hill Country. Friday’s devastating flash floods that have claimed upwards of 100 lives, including many children at summer camps, was every parent’s worst nightmare,” said Focus on the Family president, Jim Daly.
A federal district judge has ruled the Trump administration must keep taxpayer dollars flowing into Planned Parenthood’s coffers, in violation of federal law.
And no, that’s not a Babylon Bee article. It’s shockingly real.
Judge Indira Talwani granted Planned Parenthood’s motion for a temporary restraining order (TRO) on Monday, July 8, just hours after the abortion mill filed its lawsuit, preventing the Trump administration from enforcing the provision of the One Big Beautiful Bill Act that defunds abortion providers of taxpayer dollars.
To be clear, her order forces the Trump administration to defy a federal law, which Congress passed, and President Trump signed last week.
The judge demanded the administration “take all steps necessary to ensure that Medicaid funding continues to be disbursed in the customary manner and timeframes to Planned Parenthood Federation of America and its members; Planned Parenthood League of Massachusetts; and Planned Parenthood Association of Utah.”
Judge Talwani was nominated to the U.S. District Court for the District of Massachusetts by former President Barack Obama.
The One Big Beautiful Bill Act unequivocally prohibits taxpayer dollars from funding Planned Parenthood by prohibiting Medicaid funds from going to any entity that “is primarily engaged in family planning services, reproductive health, and related medical care.”
The New York Times concluded last weekend what Focus on the Family (now, officially, a “hate group”) has argued for years — boys need positive male role models.
In “What Happens When Most of the Adults in Boys’ Lives are Women,” Times reporter Claire Cain Miller writes, “At a crucial time in their lives, boys are increasingly cared for by women, especially the many boys whose fathers aren’t a regular presence,” continuing:
“This lack of male role models, say researchers, parents, young men and those who work with them, is contributing to [young men’s] struggles in school and employment — and the overall feeling that they’re adrift.”
The Times deserves credit for finding and printing the truth. Legacy media too frequently parrot modern lies about the natural family unit being “racist,” “homophobic” or a Western invention.
That said, the article’s treatment of the truth leaves much to be desired.
Anthropologists and sociologists have agreed on the social value of male leadership for going on a century. In her book Male and Female, renowned cultural anthropologist Margaret Mead concluded:
“Every known human society rests firmly on the learned nurturing behavior of men.”
The Times‘ piece omits anthropology and sociology altogether. Rather, Miller presents her elementary conclusion.

Public libraries across the nation celebrated “LGBT pride month” by promoting sexually confusing books with homosexual and “transgender” themes to children and teens.
But it’s not just June when LGBT identities and behaviors are pushed on children, as many libraries promote age-inappropriate books throughout the year.
This is especially the case as the American Library Association has become more radical and promotes sexualized books for children. But it’s also because LGBT folks and their allies claim more days, weeks and months to celebrate various sexual proclivities — from Bisexual Health Awareness Month in March to Transgender History Month in August, and from Aromantic Spectrum Awareness Week in February to Transgender Awareness Week in November.
Libraries also promote inappropriate material during so-called Banned Books Week, in October each year.
Parents should be aware that this happens across the country — even in conservative communities.
In North Carolina, John Murawski reported at Real Clear Investigations about Raliegh public libraries celebrating LGBT pride month:
Like public libraries across the country, branches in North Carolina’s capital city turn rainbow-hued each June in celebration of Pride Month.
As he did with his first cabinet meeting, President Trump invited Scott Turner, United States Secretary of Housing and Urban Development, to open the gathering in prayer.
The former NFL player, Secretary Turner served in the Texas State Legislature (2013-2017) and was an associate pastor at Prestonwood Baptist Church in Plano, Texas.
The former church shepherd has described himself as a “purpose-driven person” who sees his life in terms of a calling rather than a career.
“All along the way, you know, I believe the Lord was preparing me,” Turner said.
“I believe God is a sovereign God … I believe that from before the womb of my mother that [God] was preparing me for this moment, for this day, for such a time as this.”
In his role at HHS, Secretary Turner has vowed to “restore biological truth to the federal government.”
He then added, “This means getting the government out of the way of what the Lord established from the very first day, when he created man in his own image, male and female.”
Under Secretary Turner’s watch, any federally funded shelter must offer services according to a person’s biology not their identity and imagination.
On Tuesday, in the aftermath of the horrific flash flooding in Texas, here is how the secretary prayed in the Cabinet room.
