Friend,
Over the holiday weekend, Congress handed Donald Trump a major victory. His budget bill passed. And the consequences for our environment and climate could be catastrophic.
This isn't just another bad bill. It's one of the most anti-environment, anti-job, and anti-American pieces of legislation we've ever seen. It deliberately dismantles clean energy progress, sacrifices public lands for private profit, and strips away programs that protect the health and dignity of working families and frontline communities. The damage will last for decades—unless we fight back now.
The Sierra Club is fighting back on every front, in courtrooms, in Congress, and in communities across the country. But we cannot win this fight without your support.
We've faced moments like this before, and won. Together, we've stopped pipelines, protected sacred lands, and helped pass the most significant climate investments in history. In fact, we helped stop a proposed selloff of millions of acres of public lands from ending up in the final budget bill.
But there is so much more we need to work against. Here's what we are up against:
It reopens the Arctic to drilling.
This bill brings back oil leasing in the Arctic Refuge, threatening wildlife, sacred lands, and the climate for oil industry profits. Pitch in now! >>>
Public lands. Private Profit.
Fossil fuel companies just got the green light to drill, mine, and log across public lands. Protections for old-growth forests are gone, and royalty rates are slashed. Pitch in now! >>>
Clean energy is under attack.
The bill kills key clean energy tax credits and ends support for EVs and energy-efficient homes. Projects are being canceled, and jobs are being lost. Pitch in now! >>>
Polluters win. Communities lose.
This bill guts environmental justice programs, cuts school air quality funding, and eliminates the Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund. Pitch in now! >>>
This bill is a setback, but it's not the end. We have a long road ahead and a lot of work to do. We cannot back down. We cannot lose momentum. With your support, we will keep organizing, keep resisting, and keep building a better future for everyone.
